Planning Applications

The Parish Council receives a copy of all planning applications from Exmoor National Park relating to proposals within the boundaries of the parish. The Parish Council normally has 21 days within which to respond. The Clerk emails details of each application to Parish Councillors and asks for their comments.

If there are no objections the Clerk replies to Exmoor National Park. If there are objections or the application is contentious the Clerk would contact the applicant to arrange a site meeting. Councillors will meet either on site or at the Community Hall to consider their response within the given timescale. Details of any planning site meeting will be advertised on the Parish Council noticeboards.

Members of the public and press have an opportunity to inspect the plans and documentation and to attend any site meeting, although the applicant/landowner may not invite them onto their property.

Having responded to Exmoor National Park the Clerk also informs the applicant of the Parish Council’s decision.

All planning applications and decisions are included in the minutes of Parish Council meetings.
